March 2023 Newsletter
The fourth edition of our online newsletter - a collection of news and views from Choral Notes.

It's early spring and the hectic Christmas period might now seem quite a long time ago, but the memory of those three concerts in two weeks is still alive. It doesn't matter how often you have sung Messiah before, there is always something fresh about each performance, and Ellie Slorach's first chance to conduct the work with HCS certainly showed that. It was wonderful to see the audience response to a sparkling and flowing performance.
And it was great to see the audience back in numbers. Like all performing arts organisations, we experienced a steep drop in attendance immediately post-Covid. While the choir got back onstage at the very first opportunity in the autumn of 2021, many audience members are still understandably nervous about concert-going. We need a full Town Hall to be able to offer the highest quality or orchestra and soloists, so do encourage your music-loving friends to come along to share this unrivalled experience of vocal and orchestral excellence.
